1964 June to September Tried a stint as Lecturer in a Polytechnic. M.M.Rahman of ex

Guindy was the principal.
1964-66.Joined Aero Engine Division of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd., Bangalore as

Graduate Trainee.

Traing included class room teaching in some 22 subjects and practical training in the

after noons.

The CEG habits of early mornig shift continued I HAL also. Our timings were 6-30 AM

to 3-00 PM. We were neiter supervisory nor non- supervisory cadres. A very funny

situation. Eating in Officers canteen with less than a workers’ salary.

Qualified for Associate of te Aeronautical Society of India. My Be Certificate from

Guindy was upgraded from II class to I class by some quirk of fate.

Selected for a Govt.O f India Scholarship for Training cum studies in UK. and

interview and selection were by Ministry of Education.

Got married to Guna Mani in 1967 a few days before going to Derby in UK.

1967-69 Rolls Royce training and qualified for a D.M.S in the local technical

college.Specialised in the R & D department of Rolls Royce Ltd.

Returned home and Bangalore and got in to the grind of the HAL.

Joined the Engine Design and development department.

1969 to 2000- rose from the Asst Seronautical Engneer to the Chief Designer Engines.

2 daughters and a son. All the three are married and settled down. A total of 6 grand

children, 2 each.
